Biography of Dr. Abraham Philip

Abraham Philip, president of Proclamation Ministries, has been preaching the gospel since 1986. He received the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at fourteen years of age in Hyderabad, India. Abraham earned a BS in biology from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, and an MS in microbiology from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. While pursuing a successful scientific career at the DuPont Company, Abraham Philip received his call to the ministry. In obedience to that call, he pursued theological studies in preparation for Christian service. He graduated with a Master of Arts in Religion (MAR) from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, and a Ph.D. in Expository Preaching from Trinity Theological Seminary in Newburgh, Indiana. In 2016, the Olford Center for Biblical Preaching conferred on Abraham Philip the honor of Stephen Olford Fellow of Expository Preaching.

 

After twenty-one years of service in research and management positions at the DuPont Company, Abraham took early retirement to devote his time to ministry, especially training national leaders on expository preaching. Although the initial focus of Abraham Philip’s evangelistic work was India, the country of his birth, he has been privileged to preach the gospel in Ghana, Guyana, Kenya, Malta, Myanmar, and the Philippines. He is ordained by the Assemblies of God in Springfield, Missouri.

Abraham Philip is the author of Thrown Overboard: A Reluctant Prophet’s Encounter with a Gracious God; Strength to Strength: Christ-Centered Devotionals for Growing in Faith; and Divorce and Remarriage: A Biblical Perspective.

Dr. Philip and his wife Annie are blessed with three grown children and two granddaughters. They make their home in Newark, Delaware.

Abraham Philip is a Stephen Olford Fellow of Expository Preaching and president of Proclamation Ministries. Formerly, he served in the DuPont Company for twenty-one years in microbiology research, marketing, and product management. Abraham has held evangelistic meetings and leadership conferences in Nigeria, Kenya, Guyana, India, the Philippines, and Myanmar. He has a Ph.D. in expository preaching and is the author of Thrown Overboard: A Reluctant Prophet’s Encounter with a Gracious God and Divorce and Remarriage: A Biblical Perspective.
